Welcome to History

History fulfils a crucial role in illuminating the past and the present. Through explaining the causes and effects of changes in the past, it contributes to a sense of perspective essential to an understanding of the present day. It helps create an individual self-belief and a sense of belonging to a society with a past constantly changing overtime. History does not seek to impose a value system on pupils, but allows pupils to examine how past values change over time. It therefore, sets in context present debates and issues while promoting confidence and citizenship within our community. As a department we see the study of History as a "Life Long Learning Opportunity".
