Twenty year old, Sophie Lancaster was beaten by thugs when walking with her boyfriend Robert Maltby.  Thugs started to give the pair verbal abuse before they kicked and punched Robert to the ground.  Sophie tried begging them to stop but the thugs laughed at her and turned on her. 

                “They were jumping on her and kicking her in the head.”  A witness described in court.

                  A fourteen year old witness phoned 999.  She explained that there is an attack on two “moshers

               Sophie slipped into a coma after the attack and died two weeks later.  Robert survived despite being battered unconscious. He has no memory of the incident.

                 Yesterday, a 15-year-old went on trial at Preston Crown Court which  four other youths have admitted to being involved in.
