Rapid Response

All new S2 pupils took part in a Rapid Response Engineering challenge on Monday 18th June. Pupils had previously been introduced to civil engineering and a ‘hurricane in Honduras’.  The ‘Hurricane Project’ was initiated to make pupils more aware of the link between subject content and practical application.

Pupils worked in teams to complete different activities including, building a shelter, transporting water, making weather instruments, filtering water, orienteering, making PowerPoint presentations and making different foods in Home Economics. This project helped pupils to build team working skills, improve problem solving skills, thinking skills, time management and organizational skills, and was a fun day for all involved.

All pupils enjoyed the day working alongside engineers, teachers and prefects. The winning team included Darren Cairnie, Sophie Henderson, Rhiannon Lyons, Katelynn McPherson, and Adam Saunders, who won cinema tickets and stationary.

Well done to everyone who helped and took part in the day.
